Did You Know? YEC hosted daily online chat sessions from Oct 1-4, 2012. Youth ages 15-24 were encouraged to ask employers questions about their company, hiring practises, and corporate culture.

Air Canada is currently participating in the Youth Employment Centre’s Online Hiring Blitz. Here are their answers to a few of our Frequently Asked Questions!

What is the best way to get noticed by your organization?
The recommended way of getting noticed is by applying via www.aircanada.ca/careers. Candidates should upload an updated version of their resume and answer all of the pre-screening questions honestly. These steps are crucial in the evaluation process. In addition, signing up for our email alerts is a great way to stay up to date about our new vacancies. Once candidates have signed up for email alerts, they can apply to the positions that fit their skills and qualifications.

What do you look for in an employee?
At Air Canada, we believe that attracting candidates from all walks of life is essential as it what allows us to maintain diversity while ensuring that we foster open-mindedness towards different cultures and different views. However, given that Air Canada is a Canadian company, being bilingual (English/French) is definitely an asset and will allow candidates the opportunity to broaden their experience by having the capacity to speak both languages. Moreover, it is also an asset to speak any of the following languages: Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, German, Arabic, Hebrew, Portuguese, Greek or Dutch.

We are looking for motivated and dynamic individuals to join our diverse and vibrant team. It is imperative that candidates are at least 18 years or older and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

What is the best way to get noticed by your organization?
I always love when candidates do some research on the company they are applying at! One of the best things about Levi’s is the history of the company. We tell our story to each employee and we all value how hard Levi Strauss worked to get us to where we are today.

What do you look for in an employee?
Our current employees are happy, energetic, friendly, and vary in age. We have a very multi-cultural group of people in our store and would love to hire people who are open-minded, motivated, and most importantly, willing to learn.

Would you prefer a 1 or 2 page resume?
We’d love to see resumes 2 pages or less. Condense down your resume to include your last 3-5 employers at most.

Do you require a cover letter?
You don’t have to provide a cover letter but we always love hearing why you chose to apply with Levi Strauss & Co. specifically.

How will I know if you have recieved my resume?
As we get into our busiest season of the year, we will be conducting interviews on a weekly basis. If your cover letter and resume suit the candidate we are looking for, we will contact you by phone or email.

What is the best way to get noticed by your organization?
A good resume, no spelling mistakes, properly addressed, resume is complete.

Would you prefer a 1 or 2 page resume?
We usually require a 2 page resume outlining the experience (both volunteer/paid), dates worked and the job duties. Education and certifications should be listed. Ensuring the information on your resume relates to the position you are applying for.

Do you require a cover letter?
We like to have a short cover letter outlining the position you are applying for along with a few highlights related to the qualifications for the position you are applying for.

How will I know if you have recieved my resume?
All emailed resumes are usually received. We do not contact applicants unless they are called in for an interview.
